Lord Rennen Feräter

Lord Rennen Feräter was born to Lord Augustine and Lady Maximillia in 712YF, approximately twenty years before the first moonstones fell. According to popular rumor, Rennen acquired his signature elven weapon when he and Raux were stranded in the Elgenruud. Raux supposedly saved Rennen from a vile elven swordmaster and gifted the blade to Rennen upon their return to  Hurichz.

A bit of a disappointing hobby week for me: we didn't get to play our Friday game of DnD and I only ended up painting one miniature. On the bright side, I think I did an absolutely killer job on that single miniature!

This is Lord Rennen Feräter, patriarch of the Feräter family, and co-ruler of Tramonton's capital of Hurichz. The people of Tramonton reminisce about a jovial man whose closeness with his counterpart, Raux Hochringen, brought peace and prosperity to Tramonton. But ever since Lord Feräters return from a supposedly routine inspection of state troops in the Elgenruud six months ago, the relationship between the two has been strained and Rennen is now dour and serious. Serious about wanting to end the sending of state troops to support "peacekeeping" in the Elgenruud.

This miniature is Sebastian Lovell from CMON's Rum and Bones! The base is supposed to look like a marble floor made up of hexes. I think that it doesn't necessarily convey that as well because realistically a marble floor laid with hex shaped stones would have each individual hex with a unique marble pattern. Maybe the room he's standing in was laid with a big piece of marble and then cut in a hex pattern? At the end of the day, for not having an airbrush I think that I pulled the marble effect off pretty well. The only other hobby skill I really used was trying to keep the colors relatively muted by using extremely thin layers. I think that using this technique gives everything a really washed out look that works very well with an oil wash!

I've got that sinking feeling when you know your DnD game is about to get put on indefinite hiatus because of pesky real-life commitments. Of course I hope it doesn't happen, I've really enjoyed DMing for these players and building the world with them. I've been considering running a one-shot at my local game store to try and scratch that itch and maybe even get a new gaming group out of it in the process. We'll see what developments occur this week.

Until next time!
