Frostmourne Hungers

--------

I'm extremely proud of the two miniatures I painted since my last post and it looks like I'll have more time to paint over the next few days because I'm in quarantine. Bad for my respiratory health but good for painting!
Do I really even need to say who this miniature is inspired by? The base miniature is a Reaper Anti-Paladin that I sculpted the hair onto using greenstuff and switched out the sword with a bit that I assume is from Warhammer based on the runes. I painted him using oils, hit it with a gloss coat, used an oil wash, and then did some acrylic detailing. I think this will be my new go to process for oil painting: the gloss coat followed by an oil wash is amazing!

Painting up this miniature made me think of running a DnD game in a very clearly Wrath of the Lich King inspired campaign. I think I'd remove the whole Alliance/Horde aspect and have the players choose whether to start in the Howling Fjord or the Borean Tundra and then go from there. It could maybe even be a West Marches styled game where the play group attacks goals as a group and advances the story and plot.

My first real attempt at OSL and I went hard. This miniature is Norgol, Irongrave Knight from Reaper Miniatures. I actually painted him entirely in acrylics, which were nice to work with after using oils. I think that using a different painting medium has improved my technique with Acrylics.

Here's a picture I took of the before and after with the miniatures I painted this week, look at that improvement!

We haven't played our DnD game in quite some time. I honestly think it's just died at this point and I'm kind of okay with that. It's been a fun game and if it actually dies I think I'll do a post-mortem to properly capture lessons learned and lessons to be lost. During this time of lacking a game though I wandered into my local game store and picked THIS up...

You can expect a Battletech mini or two painted up next time I post!
